NNR008 Birthday Suits "Cherry Blue" CD
Birthday Suits:
Hideo Takahashi (guitar/vocals)
Yuichiro Matthew Kazama (drums/vocals)
In September
of 2004, around that time when Sweet J.A.P. “I’m Only Moonlight”
single on Dirtnap Records came out, Sweet J.A.P. played their last show
at packed 7th St. Entry in Minneapolis. Before long winter visited Minnesota,
4/5 of them went into the cave to hibernate. When they came out in March
of 2005, their drummer Matthew and guitar player Hideo decided to form two
piece band, Birthday Suits. After that, everything went quick. They wrote
5 songs and started booking shows. Before their first show on May 4th, they
already had 5 shows booked including opening slot for Melt Banana and a
Saturday show in Chicago. Through the summer, they constantly left town
and played out of town shows (Green Bay, Milwaukee, Madison, Chicago, and
Detroit) to get back to shape.
The end of summer, they were ready. They teamed up with a engineer/producer
Jacques Wait who have done almost all Sweet J.A.P. recording and also have
worked with Tina and Total Babes, The Soviettes, Dillinger Four, Peaches,
and list continue. They spent four days in Flower studio in Minneapolis
and their debut 8 songs CD “Cherry Blue“ was born. That’s
the name of the first song they ever wrote as Birthday Suits. Now they’re
ready to go farther.
