About 10 years ago, it was easier to find out great Japanese bands in the U.S. Labels like Estrus, Get Hip, and Sympathy For The Record Industry put out many Japanese garage/punk records. Australian label, Au-Go-Go put out a great compilation called Tokyo Trashville. It was easier to import music from Japan too. However it’s not like that lately. Have you heard any good Japanese bands recently? Is Japanese music scene dead? The answer is No. There is still great bands in Japan. It just harder to find them in U.S. But here’s the solution. “Secret Recipe From The Far East” is a compilation of 6 Japanese bands that are not familiar in the U.S. yet. Included are two songs from each band.
Psychotic Reaction has been working hard putting out singles and joining compilations in Japan including a single on Mangrove (the home of Firestarter). Their first album will be out soon. Prambath is lead by Chihiro (ex-Radio Shanghai) who have released an album on K.O.G.A. in Japan and their 2nd album will be out soon. Nylon put out a great record last year on Time Bomb Records (home of Tweezers, The 5.6.7.8’s). Don Flames and The Nailclippers have a couple of singles out. Teenage Confidential has an album out on Germany label, Screaming Apple. Their new one will be on Mangrove. All bands have been putting out records in Japan but how many of them have you heard before? Beside Teenage Confidential’s LP, This is the first thing to be released out side Japan for all other bands. We are proud to introduce these bands to the U.S. Hope you would enjoy this compilation and check these bands releases out. And yes, more great bands are hiding in Japan. They’re there.
